May 2025 — I am presenting my research at both the Senior Members Research Forum and the Sidgwick Society Annual Event at Newnham College, Cambridge.
March 2025 — I wrote a post, 'Recovery Without End: Insights from a Medieval Mystic?' for the Columbia University Press blog about my book, Impossible Recovery.

March 2025 — I delivered a public lecture on Julian of Norwich for Sarum College and The Church Times, for their online series on female mystics.
February 2025 — I'm pleased to announce I have been awarded an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship for two years beginning October 2025. I'll be affiliated jointly with the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science—working with the research group 'Experience in the Premodern Sciences of Soul & Body ca. 800–1650'—and the Technische Universität Berlin.
February 2025 — I completed the CPD course 'Leading Simple Yoga Nidras' with Nourish Yoga Training, led by Dr. Theo Wildcroft.
January 2025 — I published and launched my book Impossible Recovery: Julian of Norwich and the Phenomenology of Well-being with Columbia University Press.
October 2024 — I published 'D.W. Winnicott, Julian of Norwich, and the Good-Enough Mother/Mystic’ in American Imago's fall issue.
August 2024 — I had an article, ‘On Frustration: Reading Margery Kempe in the Classroom, accepted in New Chaucer Studies: Pedagogy and Profession, due for publication next year.
July 2024 — I reflected on the 'Contemplation: theory / practice' network's activities for the CRASSH blog.
July 2024 — I wrote the description for the newly digitised Piers Plowman manuscript at Newnham College, Cambridge (Newnham MS 4), available via the Cambridge UL.
July 2024 — I was at Furkapass in Switzerland for the in:dépendance Creative Residency, in association with the Department of Architecture ETH Zurich, the Alfred Richterich Foundation, and Furkablick Institute. Field photography and notes here.
June 2024 — I was at Durham University's Institute for Medical Humanities: Affective Experience Lab's “Sensing Through Description” Symposium. I gave the talk: 'Is There Such a Thing as "Mystical Experience"?'
June 2024 — I gave a paper, 'Mother’s Work: Julian of Norwich, Winnicott, and Ordinary Devotion’ at the Mysticism & Lived Experience Network Annual Conference.
May 2024 — I was in Oxford for the Affiliations: Towards a Theory of Cross-Temporal Comparison conference, in association with the Oxford Comparative Criticism and Translation Centre (OCCT). I gave the paper: 'Medieval Contemplation, Modern Criticism: A Comparative Approach to Attentional Practice’.
April 2024 — I was guest lecturer on two modules for Sarum College's 'Themes in Medieval Christian Spirituality' course.
